Bible Passages for our meditation:
- Matthew 25: 14 - 28 --> Parable of Talents.
- Acts 1: 9 - 11 --> Jesus the Righteous Rewarder will come back just as He went.
- Matthew 28: 19, 20 --> Great Commission of Jesus to His disciples.
Matthew 25: 14 - 28
- Man travelling to a far country calls His servants.
- He gives 5, 2 and 1 talents to three of His servants depending on their several abilities.
- He knows fully well that,
- each of them is capable of doing trade with the talents they received.
- they will reap profit when they trade with the talents given to them.
- The men who received 5 and 2 talents respectively traded with what they received and doubled it.
- The man who received one talent hid it.
- When the master returned, He appreciated the men who traded with the talents given to them and doubled it. He called both of them "Good and Faithful Servant"
- Though they had received different talents depending on their abilities, His words of appreciation for both were the same. (Mt. 25: 21 and 23).
- The man who had hid his talent was a lazy man who did not trade with the talent he had received. He was also finding fault with his own master and accused Him.
Jesus is the master and we are the servants. Just like He has promised, He will come back to reward us and gather us with Him. When we received the Holy Spirit He has bestowed the gifts of the Holy Spirit upon us. To each of us, He has given according to our abilities. Let us not look at others. Let us not envy others. But let us be truthful in the small blessings/gifts that God has given us. He is a Righteous Rewarder. He will reward each of us based on how we have used the talents that we have received from Him. The work that He has set before us is to preach the gospel to the people around us. Let us use the talents that He has given us to gather as many people as we can to His Kingdom.
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
- Matthew 25: 21
