Bible Passages for or meditation:
- Matthew 19: 16 - 22 --> Be Perfect.
- Luke 19: 3 - 10 --> This day is Salvation come to this house.
- John 3: 2 - 5; 19: 39 --> Be born-again.
A young man came to Jesus asking Him, 'What shall I do to inherit eternal life?'. His intentions were not sincere. His mind and heart was in the this world. Knowing this Jesus says, 'Sell all your possessions, give to the poor and then follow me'. He went off sorrowfully.
Zaccheus, had a desire to behold Jesus. He sought Jesus sincerely. So when Jesus said, 'I will stay in your house today.' He is pricked in his mind and confesses saying, 'Half of my goods I will give to the poor and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusations, I will restore him 4-fold'. He earnestly sought Jesus and was ready to give away anything. His mind was not in this world.
Nicodemus had a clear understanding that Jesus was God Himself, because he says 'No man do these miracles that Thou doest'. To this man Jesus says, 'Be born-again. Be born of water and of the Spirit'.
Nothing can be hidden from God. He knows our very intentions.
To attain perfection:
II Corinthians 7: 1 --> Cleanse yourself from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. Thus, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
IPeter 2: 1, 2 --> If you have tasted that Lord is gracious, lay aside
- all malice
- all guile
- hypocrisies
- envies
- all evil speaking.
If you are a believer trying to become perfect, you should not have any of the above characters.
Matthew 5: 44, 45 --> If you do this you will become children of your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5: 48 --> Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
