Bible Passages: Song of Solomon 8: 14 -> Make haste my beloved
A bride waiting for the bridegroom addresses the bridegroom as 'My Beloved'. God has kept us as His bride calling Him 'My Beloved'.
How is God's love?
- His love is better than wine (SoS. 1: 2)
- Wine,
- cheers God and man (Jud. 9: 13)
- makes a man forget his miseries (Prov. 31: 6, 7)
- Holy Spirit makes you forget yourself and your shortcomings
- He kisses with His love which is the Holy Spirit which is better than wine.
- Wine,
- His love is something that should always be remembered (SoS. 1: 4)
Remember all the benefits received from God (Ps. 103: 1 - 13). Remember,
- That He has forgiven all your transgressions and healed all your diseases
- That He crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies
- That He satisfies your mouth with good things and gives you new strength
- That He executes judgement when you are oppressed
- That He reveals His ways for you through His servants
- His acts for you
- That He removed your transgressions as far as east is from the west
- That He has not dealt with us after our sins
- That He has not rewarded us according to our iniquities
- That He is merciful and gracious
- That He pities like a father
My children have forgotten me for days without number
- His banner over me is Love (SoS. 2: 4)
- Banner/flag is lifted for Love. A flag has a purpose, organization and a leader
- Purpose: Depend on His grace and lead a holy life. Only then His over will be over you. His love the flag of victory should always be lifted your life.
- Organization: This is the church. His laws and ordinances are given by the Holy Spirit. Come what may we should stand firm for the church God has given.
- Leader: Obey the shepherd/leaders appointed for your by God.
- Banner/flag is lifted for Love. A flag has a purpose, organization and a leader
- Love cannot be quenched by waters or floods (SoS. 8: 7)
- Waters or floods - troubles and trials in this world
- David prays that waters will not destroy him (Ps. 69: 1, 2, 15)
- Any great problem in this world will not separate me from the love of Christ. (Rom 8: 37 - 39)
- Job says 'Even though He slays me yet will I trust Him'. (Job 13: 15)
- Love would be utterly contemned (SoS. 8: 7)
- Love sacrifices. Sacrifice your life for love.
- After Moses knew God, he left everything of this world for Him. (Heb. 11: 24)
- Mary sacrifices the precious ointment for Him (Mat. 26: 7)
- Sacrifice the things you consider precious in this world for His sake. Don't put your mind in the things of this world.
- Love is strong as death (SoS. 8: 6)
- Love is ready to sacrifice life for Christ
- Love makes us sick/worry (SoS. 2:5)
- Sick for His sake and not worldly things
- Eg: Nehemiah fasts and prays for the temple of God that was destroyed and also God's people who were captives. He speaks to the king and builds/repairs the walls of Jerusalem.
- 2 Cor 7: 10, 11 - Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation. It brings, carefulness, clearing of yourself, indignation, fear, vehement desire, zeal and revenge
Walk in His love and get ready for your Beloved's coming.
